Safari is an excellent browser, but many OS X users still prefer to change their default browser to some Firefox, Opera, Camino etc. Unfortunately OS X still sees Safari as the default browser and any web links in emails etc will still launch Safari rather that the preferred browser.

To change this behaviour you have to go into Safari, select Preferences / General Tab and set the default browser there… After that any web links should launch in this browser rather than Safari…
