If you are one of the growing number of “switchers” who have seen the light and bought a Mac for home use but still have to use Windows PC’s in the workplace you may have come across this particular issue already.
You maintain a list of contacts phone and email details in Outlook contacts on your work PC and would like to have the same list available in your Mac Address Book. Unfortunately there is no particularly easy way of exporting this data from Outlook and into Address Book, or at least there hasn’t been until recently.
Plaxo is a web based service for synchronising the contents of your Outlook calendar, contacts and tasks ( primarily ) onto the web where you can either refer to them when you are not at your PC, or alternatively you can install the Plaxo client software on another PC and sync the details down to that one too as a way of easily transferring between say a home and an office PC.
Now you can also download a client for Mac OS X which allows you to sync your Contact data into Mac Address Book. The synchronisation is actually bi-directional so new contacts added to Mac Address Book are automatically downloaded into Outlook Contacts when you next sync your PC !
This is an excellent tool and if you need this facility is easily the best way to do this at present. Definately Recommended !
