Ok, I have tonight switched on my new Fon.com Social Router !

Fon is a project to try to get wireless broadband users to share their unused Internet bandwidth to create a global wireless network that allows either free roaming for registered users prepared to offer their bandwidth for nothing, or income for those who would like to bill users for connecting through their network !

If you haven’t seen the site I recommend you go take a look, if nothing else it is a way of getting a brand new Linksys WRT-54G wireless router for the huge sum of 5 Euros ! I kid you not !

Mine is up and running for anyone who would like to try it when they are next passing ( I am in Stoneleigh Grove, Muxton, just off the top end of Marshbrook Way, you should easily connect from the road ). What will happen if you connect to Fon_Muxton is you will be redirected to my routers login page. From here you can access www.muxton.com for nothing, or you can register online at Fon.com and pay for a Fon wireless pass ( 3 Euros per day ). You can see my exact location on Frappr UK Foneros

If you buy a Fon router from their web site and register as a “Linus” ( a Fon user who does not receive income from Fon for sharing their bandwidth ), you immediately gain free roaming to ANY Fon router in the World.

Anyone else seen this or interested in adding to the project ?
