A number of articles are reporting that Apples total share of the American laptop market has risen to 12% on the back of sales of the new MacBook and MacBook Pro’s. This is despite numerous rumours of problems with both models.
The Mac Observer has this report. Macworld goes further with an article on the growth of Apple sales, reporting an increase of 16% in sales over the previous year, rising from 4.4% of the US market in 2005 to 4.8% in 2006.
What is more impressive about these figures is that this has been acheived whilst transitioning almost their entire product line from the PowerPC to Intel processors. The announcements later this Summer at the August Developers Conference can surely only further enhance this growth, however minor they may be ( and it is very likely I believe that whatever is announced will be far from minor ! ).
Watch out Microsoft…

3That is amazing. I love to see these kinds of figures. I hope that it starts a crushing growth spurt being a macbook owner myself.
